Flairty’s Perfect Day, Malcolm’s Slam Power Chargers’ Sweep of Kishwaukee

Erin Flairty (Pekin, Ill./Pekin) reached in all eight of her plate appearances on the day and Lizzie Malcolm (Moline, Ill./Alleman) had six RBIs in Game 2 for the red-hot Carl Sandburg College softball team as the Chargers swept Kishwaukee 10-4 and 10-1 on Tuesday in an Arrowhead Conference doubleheader.

Sandburg clawed its way to back to .500 on the season at 17-17 while improving to 7-1 in the conference after winning for the ninth time in in last 10 games.

Flairty reached five time in five plate appearances out of the leadoff spot, going 4 for 4 with a walk, a triple, three runs, two RBIs and a stolen base.

Already leading 4-1 in the third, the Chargers blew the game open as the Kougars walked the bases loaded and Malcolm connected for a grand slam to left.

Malcolm added a two-run single in the fourth to finish with six RBIs in the contest. She also drew a first-inning walk as she reached in all three plate appearances.
